Convention Updates

February 12, 2010
As of today (Feb. 12th), 110 rooms of the total 144 available rooms in La Carmela de Boracay have been reserved for PHILLBO guests and delegates.  We advise PHILLBO members to pre register with your respective ALBO regional association so that the Secretariat can allocate your room accommodation.  Those who can no longer be accommodated at La Carmela will be billeted in the nearby sister resort.

BTW, there’s a modification in the Convention Program.   In the 3rd day, the topic “Internal Control in LGUs” was scrapped since the invited resource speaker, Dr. Rufo Mendoza will not be available.  Instead, the topic “Coping with Stress in the Workplace” is inserted.  This will be handled by Dra. Daisy Chua - Daquillanea, well-known psychology practitioner based in Iloilo.  Till next update.

Boracay is located at the northwest tip of Panay Island in Western Visayas- In getting there you can travel by plane and boat from Manila and Cebu City via Panay Island. (Iloilo City).

The Province of Aklan is adopting a “one-entry, one-exit” policy.  So all PHILLBO delegates bound for Boracay has to stop over at Caticlan Jetty port where they can take either a motorboat or fast craft to Cagban jetty port in Boracay Island. The trip takes 15 minutes for a fare of Php 25.00 (motorboat) and Php 30.00 (fast craft). Delegates should shell out an additional Php 50.00 as terminal fee and Php 50.00 environmental fee. To avoid the inconvenience of having to line up to pay for boat fare and other fees, delegates are advised to coordinate with the Secretariat assigned at the jetty port. Another five minutes drive by motorcab, multi-cab will take the delegates to La Carmela de Boracay.

 From Manila (By Plane)

Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific provide two (2) flights each daily from Manila to Kalibo, Aklan. From Kalibo,  vans are available for a 11/2 hour ride to Caticlan Jetty port (Php100.00 fare). Smaller aircraft like Asian Spirit and Sea Air also offer several flights daily.

The shorter route is a flight to Caticlan Airport on board Asian Spirit and Sea Air. A van, multi-cab or motorcab will take you to the nearby Jetty Port before proceeding to Boracay.

 From Iloilo (By Land)

Ceres Liner as well as L-300 vans, and rented vehicles leave Iloilo from their terminal at Tagbak, Jaro, Iloilo City almost every hour. The trip takes 3 hours to Kalibo. From drop off points/Terminal in Kalibo, delegates can take a van or shuttle bus going to Caticlan for 1 ½ hour. Fare is Php100.00. For rented vans you can arrange for a direct trip from Iloilo City to Caticlan Jetty Port

 From Iloilo (By Sea)

Ships from Manila,  Mindanao,  Cebu also dock at Iloilo Port. Delegates should then proceed to the Bus terminal in Tagbak, Jaro, Iloilo City for their land trip to Caticlan.
