Date and Venue: March 10-12, 2010 at La Carmela de Boracay Resort-Hotel at Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.
About the Venue
La Carmela de Boracay is a AAA Boracay Resort with a guaranteed 144 rooms for occupancy. It is situated in Station 2 right at the Beachfront of Boracay Island. Recently renovated, the Resort will be locked up and made exclusively available for PHILLBO participants for the duration of the convention. Registration Fee and Accommodation:
Registration is P6,000.00, live-in. This includes accommodation for two (2) nights and three (3) days stay at La Carmela de Boracay Resort-hotel with fullboard meals consisting of two (2) breakfast, two (2) Lunch, two (2) Dinner, three (3) AM snacks, and two (2) PM snacks. Accommodation is a quadruple sharing and on a “first come first serve basis”.
Hotel accommodation the day before and after the convention date shall be at the expense of the participants. La Carmela de Boracay will charge “early birds” the same convention rate. Avoid the rush! How to get there:
Boracay is located at the northwest tip of Panay Island in Western Visayas- In getting there you can travel by plane and boat from Manila and Cebu City via Panay Island. (Iloilo City).
The Province of Aklan is adopting a “one-entry, one-exit” policy. So all PHILLBO delegates bound for Boracay has to stop over at Caticlan Jetty port where they can take either a motorboat or fast craft to Cagban jetty port in Boracay Island. The trip takes 15 minutes for a fare of Php 25.00 (motorboat) and Php 30.00 (fast craft). Delegates should shell out an additional Php 50.00 as terminal fee and Php 50.00 environmental fee. To avoid the inconvenience of having to line up to pay for boat fare and other fees, delegates are advised to coordinate with the Secretariat assigned at the jetty port. Another five minutes drive by motorcab, multi-cab will take the delegates to La Carmela de Boracay.
From Manila (By Plane)
Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific provide two (2) flights each daily from Manila to Kalibo, Aklan. From Kalibo, vans are available for a 11/2 hour ride to Caticlan Jetty port (Php100.00 fare). Smaller aircraft like Asian Spirit and Sea Air also offer several flights daily.
The shorter route is a flight to Caticlan Airport on board Asian Spirit and Sea Air. A van, multi-cab or motorcab will take you to the nearby Jetty Port before proceeding to Boracay.
From Iloilo (By Land)
Ceres Liner as well as L-300 vans, and rented vehicles leave Iloilo from their terminal at Tagbak, Jaro, Iloilo City almost every hour. The trip takes 3 hours to Kalibo. From drop off points/Terminal in Kalibo, delegates can take a van or shuttle bus going to Caticlan for 1 ½ hour. Fare is Php100.00. For rented vans you can arrange for a direct trip from Iloilo City to Caticlan Jetty Port
From Iloilo (By Sea)
Ships from Manila, Mindanao, Cebu also dock at Iloilo Port. Delegates should then proceed to the Bus terminal in Tagbak, Jaro, Iloilo City for their land trip to Caticlan.
From Manila (By Sea)
Delegates may also opt to travel via the Strong Republic Nautical Highway. Buses like Philtranco, Dimple Star, etc. departs from Cubao, Quezon City at 11:00 am and 2;30 p.m. to Batangas City There a waiting RORO vessel will take them to Mindoro and all the way to Caticlan, Malay, Aklan. Total travel time is 14 hours and the fare ranges from Php 1,000 to Php 1,200.
The cheaper route from Manila by boat is offered by WG&A Shipping Lines, Negros Navigation Co. Inc. and Moreta Shipping Lines. All ships depart from North Harbor, Manila and dock at the Port of Dumaguit, New Washington for an overnight trip. A bus, jeepney or air-conditioned shuttle bus will take you to Caticlan. for Php 200 per person.
Other Information:
Attire: For the opening ceremony, delegates are advised to wear semi-formal attire. For the rest of the session – casual light clothing, low heeled shoes is a must. Dinner by the beach in the 2nd night (Mar. 11) - white shorts and t-shirt.
